Objectives
Developments in Dutch multicultural society are strongly related to international developments. The consequences of globalisation, transnational tensions, EU enlargement , economic and political power shifts at the global level affect the everyday lives of ordinary people; native Dutch people, migrants and ethnic minorities. Therefore, it is essential to include the international context when analysing and finding solutions to multicultural affairs, dilemmas and conflicts that occur at the national level. Vice versa, sharing Dutch expertise and practices with international stakeholders is necessary to make sure that social developments and policies in the EU stay closely linked to developments at the national and local level.
