Entangled Rights of Freedom |
| Freedom of speech, freedom of religion and the non-discrimination principle in the dutch Wilders case |
The injunction to the criminal prosecution of parliamentarian Geert Wilders by the Public Prosecution Service caused feelings to run high both in the Netherlands and abroad. The case is extremely complicated and it raises the functioning and the constitutional significance of fundamental rights. The attention drawn by this case in the media, specifically in the broader European and Arab region, induced FORUM to issue this publication. It is of utmost importance for a well-balanced image of the Netherlands to explicate, in a comprehensive manner, the facts and details of this case. It is descriptive and contains no qualifications on the desirability of the prosecution or on morality. The publication endeavours to be an informative product with the aim to draw the context of the Dutch statutory law.
