Migrant Integration Policy |
| Index III |
The newest results of the third edition of the international benchmark Migrant Integration Policy Index – MIPEX III are now available.
MIPEX measures integration policies in all European Union Member States plus Norway, Switzerland, Canada and the USA up to 31 May 2010. Using 148 policy indicators it creates a rich, multi-dimensional picture of migrants’ opportunities to participate in society by assessing governments’ commitment to integration. By measuring policies and their implementation it reveals whether all residents are guaranteed equal rights, responsibilities and opportunities.
The Netherlands has traditionally occupied a leading position in the MIPEX. In the first edition (2005), the Netherlands was ranked number three of the then 15 Member States of the European Union. In the second edition (2007), the Netherlands came fourth in a list of 27 EU countries. This latest version shows that the Netherlands has again dropped one place, to number five.
On 2 March 2011, the newest results were presented and discussed in a panel of experts and government officials. A short report and a filmed impression of the meeting will be available soon
The MIPEX project is led by the British Council and the Migration Policy Group in cooperation with 37 national-level organisations. FORUM, the Dutch National Institute for Multicultural Affairs is the National partner for the Netherlands. FORUM, together with other experts, has been responsible for the organisation relating to the content of the MIPEX where it concerns the Netherlands, the translation into Dutch of the abridged version of the MIPEX and the presentation of the results for the Netherlands.
