Conference: Who’s Right(s)? Applying the human rights frame to national migration policies

This FORUM conference brings experts and interested parties together to explore the human rights situation of migrants and asylum seekers in the Netherlands. Register here.

Important questions discussed during the conference will be:

  • What is the impact of international criticism on domestic legislation and policies?
  • How does the Netherlands maintain its leading role as a human rights advocate?

The objective of this conference is to discuss the process of cooperation between different actors who together give rise to Dutch national laws and policies protecting the human rights of migrants.

During the conference the research report “Who’s Right(s)? International Monitoring of Compliance with Human Rights of Migrants 2000-2009” will be presented to the State Secretary for Justice Nebahat Albayrak. This research was conducted by Dominique van Dam, MLL of the law faculty of the Radboud University Nijmegen. The central question of Van Dam’s research was: What is the effect of international monitoring on Dutch laws and policies in relation to the Human Rights of migrants?

To acquire the report please contact Wolf publishers (www.wolfpublishers.nl). After our conference on the 17th of February 2010, you will also be able to access the report through our website.
